Congratulations, you've made the fabulous decision to encapsulate your placenta! We are looking forward to working with you and helping support your postpartum time through placenta encapsulation.
TRAINING & SCOPE OF PRACTICE
All encapsulators representing Tyo Birth Care / Tyo Placenta have been trained through the Association of Prepared Placenta Arts (APPA) and have completed certification or are in the final stages of completing certification. We adhere to a strict, APPA board-approved protocol that puts your safety first. Neither we, nor our training organization, can guarantee results or diagnose or treat any illness. General guidelines for ingesting placenta capsules are provided but ultimately it is the client's responsibility to listen to and follow the body's response.
At this time placenta services have not been evaluated by the FDA. The services offered by Tyo Birth Care / Tyo Placenta are not clinical, pharmaceutical, or intended to diagnose or treat any condition. Clients who choose to utilize these services take full responsibility for their own health and for researching encapsulation and using capsules.
FEES & REFUNDS
Full Payment is due at time of booking and is required before your placenta is picked up for processing. Payment in full includes a $35 non-refundable retainer fee. The retainer fee is earned upon payment and includes but is not limited to: administrative costs, ensures stocked supplies, transport kits, and other incurred fees.
If you book placenta services within three weeks of your estimated due date it is your responsibility to provide a back-up disposable cooler as the Transport Kit may not reach you before you go into labor. The Transport Kit is not mailed to clients that have already delivered. These clients are responsible for providing a disposable cooler for transport of the placenta. Tyo Birth Care/Tyo Placenta cannot guarantee the return of client coolers.
In the event that you cancel your placenta encapsulation or your placenta is rendered incompatible with encapsulation (typically due to faulty storage or infection) you will be refunded your payment minus the $35 retainer fee. Cancellation must be communicated before the placenta is picked up from the client. We are not able to issue refunds of any kind once a placenta is picked up.
Repeat clients receive 10% off placenta services. If you are a returning client please make note of this on your booking form and you will be issued a 10% refund within two weeks of booking.
In the unlikely event that Tyo Birth Care/Tyo Placenta is unable to deliver a finished product due to encapsulator error, equipment malfunction, or circumstances outside of our control, a complete refund will be issued including the $35 retainer fee. The refund is limited to total monies paid.
SERVICES
Most encapsulations and additional services are completed and delivered within 3-4 days of placenta pick-up. On occasion there may be an additional 1-2 day delay, due to an influx of placentas or personal or professional commitments. An estimate of timing will be given when you deliver. While Tyo Birth Care/Tyo Placenta can almost always accommodate encapsulation requests made after delivery, these services may be delayed to accommodate prior bookings.
Tyo Birth Care/Tyo Placenta offers services throughout IL. Tyo Birth Care/Tyo Placenta may utilize a medical courier service for pick-up and/or utilize overnight delivery services to return capsules to clients. This is at the discretion of Tyo Birth Care/Tyo Placenta and clients will be advised of transport methods at time of service.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CLIENT
The responsibilities of the client are as follows:
During pregnancy, alert your care provider to your intention of taking your placenta after the birth (you do not have to disclose your intent to encapsulate). S/He can clarify your hospital's release policy. Contact Tyo Birth Care/Tyo Placenta if there are any issues.
Bring Transport Kit to place of birth and properly store placenta according to directions provided after booking. Placenta must be properly stored otherwise it will not be viable for consumption. Pick-ups do not occur overnight and generally take place between 7am and 10pm. Overnight texts regarding a placenta being ready for pick-up are generally responded to between 7-9am the following morning.
Alert Kate at Tyo Birth Care/Tyo Placenta (call or text: 773.669.4437) when you are in labor as well as immediately after giving birth to let Kate know the placenta is ready for pick-up. (Complete instructions are emailed after booking, and are included with the Transport Kit as well.)
